Many folks have requested the lyrics to the song our clergy sang about the new parish hall during our Annual Meeting this past January 30th. Here they are below!
The song ‘bout the new St-Thom’s Parish-h’ll
I give thanks for the time you’ll give me for these rhymes,
For I’ve got something I’d love to share w’th-all
And it comes in this song, and it won’t take too long –
While we boast ‘bout the new St-Thom’s Parish-h’ll!
Well last year started out, with no reas’nable doubt
That we’d break ground and raise a new building!
And we dug shovels in and we looked with a grin
At the site that would see it’s appearing.

Well we’ve made it our prayer and we’ve taken great care
To construct a good place to wel-come all!
And we do recommend that you come bring a friend
To hang ‘round in the new St-Thom’s Parish-h’ll!
Though the permits took time, not a single soul whined,
For we said, “That good building’s a’coming!
And it’ll hold more – by the dozen, or score –
Of our Christian community’s running!
And though hammers galore, banged all year near our door,
And the heat in July was distressing,
Or the bricks came in late, frustratin’ Weldon Fate
Yet we saw our good building progressing!

For the good kitchen crew,

Of the youth running ‘round
As they play in this new space, much greater!
And the classes we’ll teach – and the good souls we’ll reach
And of course, the events we can cater!
Or the outreach we’ll do, when the building is through –
With our time and our talent and treasure!
For with so much new space, we’ll work hard to keep pace
That our service may match with our leisure.
