Johnson County Interfaith Hospitality Network

This is a group serving homeless families in Johnson County.  Our mission is to unite and enable the faith community to provide homeless families with emergency shelter and meals, as well as compassionate assistance with social services, and relationships with caring people in the community.  We hope to return the homeless families to a renewed sense of dignity and hope, and independent living in the shortest time possible.

St. Thomas members volunteer with this program, offering support and helping to celebrate its successes with an annual IHN Christmas Party!

To get involved, please contact the St. Thomas office at 913-451-0512!

IHN Update:

The 12th Annual IHN Holiday Party on Saturday, December 10, from 11 am-1 pm.  The IHN families that have graduated from the program and those currently homeless (about 100 guests) are invited to spend their day with us celebrating the joy of the holidays.  The parents have a chance to enjoy a relaxing lunch while the children play games, make crafts and shop for small gifts for their parents and siblings.   The IHN families are so grateful for the continued support of the party and the fellowship it provides.

There are lots of ways you can share the holiday cheer.  Sign up to:

  • purchase $20 gift cards to Target, Wal-Mart, or Quik Trip
  • purchase new items for the Kid’s Store ($5-10 range)
  • purchase food for the lunch
  • volunteer at the party.  (Adults only may volunteer to keep the confidentiality of the IHN children).

** Each graduate family goes home with a food basket, so if you and your co-workers or neighbors are looking for a holiday project – please consider donating a Holiday food basket for the graduate families.  The food basket provides items for the holiday meal plus extras for their pantry. There are about 40 items on the food basket list plus 3-4 $10 grocery gift cards.  Contact Jean Adam directly for the list.

Signups will be in the narthex during the month of November as well as online.  The deadline for all donations is Sunday, Dec. 4th, here at St. Thomas.  To sign up or if you need more information, contact IHN Party Coordinator:  Jean Adam 913-530-9097 or
