Construction Begins!

August 4, 2012 By Gar Demo

New Parish Hall Construction: Progress Report

The first thing the contractor did was to build the orange fences around trees that could possibly be damaged by the construction equipment. These orange fences will remain throughout the construction of the Parish Hall. They also placed a chainlink fence on one side of the Apostle’s Garden to protect that area. The sidewalk south of the garden will be replaced during con- struction.

This week the contractor has excavated for the new driveway on 123rd. Street. Shortly they will be installing curbs and as- phalt paving for that driveway so that they can abandon the existing driveway. The Gas Service Company and the Power and Light Company have been out to start the relocation of the gas and electric services. Once the utilities complete their work, the contractor can excavate for the building and start the foun- dation work.

The contractor has removed the air conditioning units that serve the office areas. They furnished temporary units in the office that should keep those areas relatively cool. When the perma- nent units are installed the temporary units will be removed.

Once excavation starts, the contractor will fence the construc- tion area. As a safety measure, please stay outside the fenced areas for your own projection.

More later…
